UNITEK Y-1064 is HDD docking station which including HUB function with USB/1394B+A to SATA interface (Firewire 800, Firewire 400 & USB 5-pin cables included). It's compatible with 2.5"/3.5" SATA I/II Hard Disk Drivers. This firewire hard drive dock supports 1394B backward compatible with 1394A. There is a 2 port USB2.0 HUB on the front plate, which helps to access more USB devices simultaneously.

sorry, there is no firmware update now. You can try the NewerTech Voyager Q with firewire 800/400 that supports up to 4TB hard drives.

About 2 months ago I ordered 3 of this docks.
After receiving and plugging them on out of 3 worked fine. The 2 others would only mount my HDDs using USB then, after less than a week of use they stopped working.
Also, very strange, the INVOICE I received was stablished for 15€ only (while I paid around 126€) and there was written "SAMPLE - No commercial value".
After several weeks waiting for an answer as I sent a message explaining this situation I've decided to make this post. Let's see if ESPOW will end up answering and making the refund for this faulty items.
Off course, I gave 5 stars to this just to make sure this post will not be filtered.

the dock does not support 3 TB drives. Also sometimes it does not reactivate the drive from sleep mode. The firmware of the controller is not very reliable.

The hdd docking bay also works pretty well in Win 7. Reads and writes are fast and responsive. I did not have any problem reading my FAT32 and NTFS disks. And for the price it can't be beat. Highly recommend.

What this little gem does is take much of the hassle out of putting in a new drive or swapping any SATA hard drive. It will just show up as a generic mass storage device in windows, no need to install additional drivers. It's almost as simple as plug and play.

This SATA HDD Docking Station for MAC Support 1394B 1394A Firewire looks nice, it has some serious issues. Firewire doesn\'t work. At all. I can dock the drive, and it doesn\'t show up in Finder, let alone Disk Utility, using either Firewire 800 or Firewire 400 (it comes with both cables). Unplug the Firewire cables and plug in the USB, and guess what? It works.

The UNITEK Y-1064 hard drive dock does support firewire 800/400. However, USB and Firewire cable can not be used at the same time for this dock. In addition, Macs will read NTFS but not write - except with the app the other poster mentioned. If you\'re only using the drive with the Mac, I\'d suggest reformatting it with HFS+. If you still want to share it with Windows, then FAT32 is the way to go.

This is a fine solution to a workshop or some place that fixes computers. It's such a pain to get drives in and out of enclosures when you need to do a data backup from a un-bootable PC before re-formatting it or something. I use it for backing up my home media server. SWEET!
